BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), New Delhi, under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, established this Clinical Research Institute at Agamkuan, Patna, Bihar in May 1979. For its establishment, the Government of Bihar provided a building within the premises of RMRIMS (ICMR), Agamkuan, Patna, with full autonomy, covering an area of 6,175.34 sq. ft.

Since its inception, the Institute has been delivering healthcare services to the people of Bihar while diligently implementing the mandate assigned by the Council. Initially, it was named the Ayurveda Regional Research Institute (ARRI). With the revision of its mandate to focus on Clinical Research in Infectious Diseases, the Council renamed it as the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (RARIID) in 2016. Later, in January 2021, the institute was once again renamed as the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI).

The institute continues to be authorized for research in infectious diseases and has been actively engaged in clinical trials, focusing on the efficacy, safety evaluation, and validation of various Ayurvedic formulations. Through its NABH-accredited hospital offering Out-Patient Department (OPD) services and its NABL-accredited Clinical Pathology and Biochemistry Laboratory, the Institute has been conducting clinical research activities for the past 46 years. Its core objectives include delivering affordable healthcare, generating evidence-based knowledge, and expanding the future scope of Ayurveda.

However, the present infrastructure has become inadequate to meet current requirements. To address this, the Government of Bihar has provided 3 acres of land free of cost within the campus of Vardhaman Medical College, Rajgir, Nalanda District, Bihar, for the development of a new facility for the Institute

Mandate of the Institute:  Clinical Research focused on Infectious Diseases.

Vision:  To develop scientific evidence in Clinical Research on Infectious disease.

Mission: To develop this peripheral institute of CCRAS into a model research institute for undertaking, coordinating and promoting clinical research in Ayurveda.
